You can do this using a simple GROUP BY query as seen in this tutorial:
SELECT * FROM table
GROUP BY col
If your data looks like this:
id col1 col2
1 dog cat
2 cat dog
3 horse cat
4 dog horse
5 horse fish
6 horse fish
The query will return this result:
id col1 col2
1 dog cat
2 cat dog
3 horse cat
4 dog horse
5 horse fish
6 horse fish

Go to your user profile, and edit your preferences and see if you can change the default settings to what you want. (I did this recently, and it fixed my issue. I didn't change any of the settings though, but it gave me more options.)

I did a Google search on the issue, and it came up with this:
"Reset all your posts and profiles, and then log in. Your browser must allow cookies to be set so that the feature can work properly. To do this:
1. Click on your name (it's your user name at the top of the page) in your Profile.
2. Click on Profile Preferences.
3. Click the Edit button next to the "Do Not Use Cookies" setting.
4. Click Save.
5. Click the Home button at the top of the page."
Thanks, I was trying to do this on my PC, but apparently it takes a while to take effect on the PC.
